Evidence based dentistry uses current scientific evidence to assist with decision making in dentistry. It is an approach that uses the application and examination of relevant scientific data that is related to that specific patient's oral and medial health. This, incorporated with the dentists' professional skill and expertise, allows them to stay up to date on the latest procedures. It also ensures that patients recieve improved treatment.

The dentists within our practice use evidence based dentistry to explain to patients more about what to expect from treatment they are proposing to be done. It can help a patient in their decision as it's a way for them to see the facts and gain more comfidence in why the dentist has suggested it is carried out.

Evidence based dentistry uses best of research evidence to guide dentists and practitioners to deliver best oral health care for patients. A good example is the use of antibiotics on people with endodontic disease as a pain relief. Studies demonstrate that antibiotics shouldn't replace analgesics and don't reduce the tooth ache caused by irreversible pulpits.

Evidence based dentistry is a process of making decisions based on known evidence. It is the way of dealing with the clinical problems that is based on learning and assessing evidence instead of traditional instructive form. The whole process enables dentist to monitor and develop clinical performance and it also improves the effective use of research evidence in clinical practice.

evidence based dentistry uses scientific evidence in correlation to the dentist's own expertise and education on the patient's oral and medical history, in order to make an informed decision and provide the best possible treatment options for the patient, whilst also taking the patient's personal needs and preferences into consideration.
